Experts visit coast to speak on sustainable horse ownership

Surf Coast & Inland Plains Network (SCIPN) will present nationally acclaimed authors and experts on sustainable horse property management at a seminar in May.  The session is not only open to horse owners, but will provide worthwhile information for anyone community.

The guest speakers who will be delivering the seminar are Jane Myers MSc (Equine Studies) and  Stuart Myers from Equiculture.

The seminar will cover a range of topics including:

  • Why horses behave the way they do when at pasture and how this effects pasture management
  • Simple ways of renovating pasture
  • Good pasture management practices
  • How to implement a cost and time effective management system on your property

The seminar has received top reviews from horse owners, water catchment associations and landcare groups.

Jane’s Profile:

  • Jane has been involved in the horse industry for over 35 years, both in Australia and the UK.
  • She was the recipient of the Winston Churchill Fellowship (2011) and travelled to the USA in 2012 to study sustainable horse keeping management systems.
  • Jane holds an MSc (master’s degree) in Equine Studies from the University of Wales.
  • Jane is also a qualified instructor with Horse Safety Australia and is an executive board member for this organisation.
  • She is also a member of the International Society for Equitation Science (ISES); Jane is a speaker at a number of conferences on the subject of horse properties and equine welfare.
  • Jane has written numerous articles for horse magazines as well as being a freelance writer.

Seminar details:

The seminar will be held from 9am until mid afternoon on Saturday May 4, at the Modewarre Hall, Cape Otway Road, Modewarre.

Refreshments, morning tea and a light lunch will be provided.

The cost of this event is $40
