The Great Ocean Road Coast Committee welcomes their new Caravan Park Operations Manager Daniel Aitken to the team.
Daniel joins the management team with more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry in Torquay and abroad in the UK.
Daniel completed his Diploma of Hospitality Management at the Queensland Agricultural College before heading to the UK at 18 for “six months” which quickly turned into 23 years.
During his time abroad Daniel worked for major international hotel businesses including Trusthouse Forte, the Hilton International, Park Plaza and Whitbread.
A family man, Daniel is married with 5 children (two sets of twins) and made the move to Torquay five years ago, working at the Wyndham Hotel Group as Area Manager.
Daniel said he was looking forward to working closely with the education and conservation teams in the caravan parks to help promote environmental stewardship among holidaymakers.
“Educating our campers and guests is very important to help support the conservation and environmental work conducted year-round on the Great Ocean Road Coast.
“I’m excited to work with people that are passionate about the local region and area,” he said.
Daniel joins Stephen Currie, the Commercial Manager to help with the transition of management at the Anglesea Family Caravan Park from 1 December 2017.
The Great Ocean Road Coast Committee is a not-for-profit organisation that manages the 37km of Crown coastal reserves between Torquay and Lorne.
All dollars raised through the commercial operations are reinvested back into the coastal reserves, caravan parks and the community.
“The operation of the Crown land caravan parks is an exciting and integral aspect of the work the Great Ocean Road Coast conducts,” Mr Aitkens said.
Around 80% of all funds are raised by the operation of these caravan parks which helps to fund coastal infrastructure, environmental education programs, conservation work and community and volunteer support.
