Please bag it! New biodegradable dog bags now available in Fairhaven and Anglesea

New biodegradable dog bags and rubbish bin liners have been installed at Fairhaven Beach.

Located at existing rubbish bin sites, biodegradable bags are now available at four beach access points between the Fairhaven Surf Life Saving Club to the access point in front of the “Pole House”.

Dispensers for the biodegradable dog bags are already in three locations in Anglesea, and a further three will be installed shortly at sites between Moggs Creek and Spout Creek.

Pending beach visitor feedback, the new biodegradable bags will be rolled out across all Great Ocean Road Coast-managed crown land reserves.

Coastal Reserves Manager Caleb Hurrell asked that all dog owners do the right thing by the environment and other beach visitors by cleaning up after their pets.

“We encourage responsible pet ownership and ask people to please clean up after their pets and dispose of their rubbish by making use of the bins provided.”
