Rubbish dumped at Torquay’s Taylor Park
Great Ocean Road Coast Committee staff were left frustrated after a small truck load of rubbish and debris was illegally dumped on the Beach Road side of Taylor Park last night.
Discarded pieces of concrete, bricks and other building supplies were left in Taylor Park on top of mulch and dirt piles the Great Ocean Road Coast use to improve the vegetation at the popular park area. Read more
Kim the latest addition to the team
Kim Hammond is the latest to join the Great Ocean Road Coast team as Foreshore Ranger for the Lorne reserves.
Kim is a qualified carpenter who has worked as an estimator for building new homes and extensions, holding a very diverse role before joining the Coastal Reserves Team on the Great Ocean Road. Read more

Call for caution around coastal cliffs
Authorities are calling for beach visitors to exercise caution after recent cliff collapses at Jan Juc and Aireys Inlet, with undercutting and rainfall making the areas more unstable.
Great Ocean Road Coast Committee Coastal Reserves Manager Caleb Hurrell said this time of year was known for cliff movement due to the fluctuation in soil conditions.
Resilient students continue fight for the environment
A series of acts of environmental vandalism have made students more determined to help protect the coastal environment. Unfortunately, hundreds of stakes and tree guards were removed from conservation sites over summer with a Spring Creek revegetation area in Torquay almost stripped bare.
Great Ocean Road Coast invests in community projects
Five community and volunteer groups are set to benefit from the annual Great Ocean Road Coast Committee Coastal Grant program with $10,000 going to projects that protect, enhance and increase community connections to the coastal environment.
ANGAIR, Anglesea Motor Yacht Club, Fairhaven Surf Life Saving Club, Jan Juc Coast Action and Torquay Coast Action have all received funding towards their upcoming projects.
Coastal retreat for Peace of Mind
More than 120 people including volunteers, nurses and Peace of Mind patrons made their way to the coast to participate in a variety of activities as part of the Peace of Mind Foundation’s family retreat for brain cancer last weekend. Read more
